DoD Issues interim Rule for Cyber Incidents and Cloud Computing Services

The Department of Defense (DoD) issued an interim rule expanding the obligations imposed on defense contractors and subcontractors which are intended to safeguard covered defense information by reporting cyber incidents on unclassified information systems that contain such information. The interim rule amends the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) to implement a section of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 and a section of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015, both of which require contractor reporting on network penetrations. Additionally, this rule implements DoD policy on the purchase of cloud computing services. Read more.
